X-FILES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been so excited for this since I heard confirmation it was coming back as a miniseries. I've been a long-time X-Files fan. I always hoped it would come back, in some capacity. And it has! This revival is a 6-episode miniseries. The premiere, 2nd episode, and finale relate to the alien mythology, but the other episodes are stand alone. Those stand alone episodes we've come to know and love. I was hoping for new creatures or other supernatural entities. I'm most pleased that the original cast will be returning. You gotta have David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. Skinner, Cigarette smoking man, the lone gunmen, Agent Reyes, and even the actress who played Scully's mom are all returning. I was hoping that Robert Patrick, Laurie Holden, and Nicholas Lea would make an appearance but shit outta luck. From reports, the very limited number of episodes stems from Gillian and David's busy schedules. They're filming different TV shows so it was very hard to pin down a time when they were all available.

Not only the cast but the original writers came back, and that's part of what makes the show such a success. The dialogue. The plots. Chris Carter, the creater, is back writing and directing, as well as James Wong, Darin Morgan, and Glen Morgan. I also wanted Vince Gilligan to return to write, but his busy schedule didn't make time for it. Mark Snow returned to compose the music. X-Files always had a certain musical theme, tone and sound, very distinct, and unique.

The truly great news is that if this small revival is a success, there may be even more X-Files in the near future. Carter said that maybe another season, though smaller number of episodes than the usual 20 something, may happen! I can understand that filming a 22-25 episode season is very difficult, time-consuming, exhausting, and expensive. Add to that, if you're the main character and have to be in the majority of scenes, that makes for an even tougher job. I would be fine with any number of episodes as long as they continue. There are always new weird things happening in the world, and I wouldn't mind using the X-Files as the forum to bring those stories to life. Especially with such beloved characters. Here's hoping for a new, brighter future! Series premiered on January 24th but the remaining episodes premiered on Monday.

Now that the run is over, aside from Mulder's older face and Scully's longer lighter hair, I felt like I was popping in another episode of the X-Files from back in the day. A feeling of coming home. Perfection. And the ratings are in. The 2 night premiere (Sunday and Monady) shattered records. Not even just in the U.S. but all over the entire world! Over 50 million worldwide tuned in! I think that this is beyond great news, and this should help them pitch for another season! The truth is still out there, and I for one want to be along for the ride.
